To the Editor:
I’m upset that Schooling Week would give any platform to Tiffany Justice, a Mothers for Liberty co-founder (“‘Dad and mom Can’t Belief Their Colleges,’ Mothers for Liberty Co-Founder Tiffany Justice Says,” June 30, 2023). Mothers for Liberty has been recognized as an extremist group by the Southern Poverty Regulation Heart. Audio system on the Joyful Warriors Summit referenced within the interview embody such purveyors of hate speech and anti-government sentiment as Katharine Gorka, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, and KrisAnne Corridor.
No matter our political or spiritual views, educators have to create an inclusive, protected, and productive atmosphere for all youngsters. A bunch whose followers create disruptions and disseminate threats at school board conferences; reject the authority of federal, state, and native authorities; are vital of social-emotional studying and counseling companies; and unfold baseless accusations about “indoctrination” shouldn’t be given the soapbox of a full web page in an expert periodical.
Mothers for Liberty began by opposing COVID-19 restrictions and combating masks mandates in colleges. They moved on to anti-critical-race-theory activism and homophobic witch hunts.
When requested how the group’s work helps enhance scholar achievement, Justice responded: “Love is an experience,” stating the apparent, that dad or mum involvement of their youngsters’s training is a “win-win.” Sadly, coming from Tiffany Justice, what it actually means is mother and father, no matter whether or not they know what’s taking place of their youngsters’s faculty or not, have the appropriate to intervene with educators who’re merely making an attempt to do their jobs in a local weather freed from harassment and accusations. This group’s phrases don’t have any place within the pages of this periodical.
